Dr. LaRue Montanye
Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Montanye is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the director of Montanye and Associates Counseling Center. His emphasis is on providing counseling and psychological testing as well as coordinating this growing practice.
He earned his doctorate at the Pennsylvania State University and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He is a fellow member of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association. Prior to private practice, Dr. Montanye worked in state institutions for the intellectually impaired and the mentally ill, as an outpatient therapist, and as a chief psychologist and clinical coordinator for the Lycoming County MH/MR program.
Therapy-wise, he prefers to use a combination of Reality Therapy, Communications Training and Cognitive-Behavior approaches. He also specializes in psychological testing for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and provides police exams,
Ruth Ann Cowher, M.Ed.
Licensed Professional Counselor
Ruth Ann is a Certified Licensed Professional Counselor. She earned both her Bachelors and Masters from The Pennsylvania State University and has been in the field for over 17 years.
She has an easy going nature and enjoys working with all ages from 5 to 95 providing individual, group and marital counseling. In the near future, she will also be providing supervision for both CDAC and LPC candidates.
She is eclectic in her approach to therapy and prides herself in being creative and using whatever works to help her clients. She strives to help her clients achieve less stress and fear and more acceptance and enjoyment in their lives.
On her off time, she loves spending time doing anything at all with her husband and four-legged children, even just having a lazy day at home.

Montanye and Associates Counseling Center is located in Montoursville, PA. It was established more than 30 years ago to serve North Central Pennsylvania in a private practice setting.
Our professional Associates are licensed in their fields – either in Psychology, Social Work or Counseling. They are experienced and available immediately to you.
